In 1917, he started a sign-painting business with a neighbor and fellow musician, Ewell Conway. Their sign company was located in Washington D.C. at 6th Street and T Street.

After a long and storied career with the FBI and House of Representatives George Kopecky stepped into the world of associations as the head of the National Electric Sign Association (NESA). Mr. Kopecky died November 25, 2020, at age 95.
