ISA Publishes New Welding Guide for In-Shop Welders

Alexandria, VA – September 8, 2008

The International Sign Association (ISA) has released a new publication, the ISA Aluminum Sign Welding Guide. Developed specifically for sign manufacturers that perform aluminum welding in their shops, the guide provides a detailed reference for sign engineers, shop managers and qualified welders to ensure that designs and procedures meet all standards for welding quality as detailed in AWS D1.2.

Author Randy Kissell, a professional engineer with TGB Partnership, in Hillsborough N.C., presents a formula for sign builders to achieve superior quality and outlines the key elements of welding procedure specifications and welder qualification.

“This book explains how to make aluminum welds that will meet code requirements,” said Kissell, who sits on the on the American Welding Society’s Aluminum Welding Committee and has written manuals about aluminum structural design for many industries.

“We worked closely with Randy to develop this valuable reference in response to our members’ substantial use of structural aluminum in building sign cabinets,” said Bill Dundas, ISA’s Technical and Regulatory Affairs director. “The ANSI standards referenced in this publication provide a foundation for safe and structurally sound welding practices.”

The pre-order price is $25 for ISA members and $50 for nonmembers. Order Now at the ISA Store on www.signs.org.
