Small Business Administration To Appoint New Leader, ISA Continues Its Work
Protecting and promoting the interests of the sign industry, ISA has worked extensively with the Small Business Administration (SBA). Meeting with SBA officials and staff to discuss key issues such as regulatory reform, health care costs and access to credit for small businesses is important to make sure the interests of the sign industry are addressed. ISA has also offered webinars to members on how obtain SBA loans, and the SBA has language on its website about the importance of signs and of how signage is a good investment for small businesses and start-ups. President Obama recently announced the nomination of Maria Contreras-Sweet as the next Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), replacing Karen Gordon Mills. It’s expected that the U.S. Senate will schedule her confirmation hearing in late February. Ms. Contreras-Sweet is a community banker from California who founded ProAmérica Bank. Her government experience includes leading California’s Department of Business, Transportation and Housing Agency from 1999 to 2003. ISA will continue to work with the SBA and its new leadership to find ways to help sign companies and the small businesses that they serve. For more information, contact ISA’s David Hickey.
