Nearly 50 companies across North America and one in South Africa will invite students into their shops for Sign MFG Day 2026, taking place Friday, Oct. 2. The event will help participating companies connect with their future workforce—and those who train them. As part of the event, companies invite in local high school, technical and community college students to learn about the vast opportunities a career in the sign, graphics, print and wrap industry provides.
Created by the International Sign Association in conjunction with the National Association of Manufacturers, Sign MFG Day is traditionally held the first Friday in October. As the program has grown, many participating companies hold multiple events in the spring and fall, coordinating times that work for their students. The event has led to job shadowing and internship programs as well as subsequent full-time hires. And it has helped connect sign companies with their local educators for ongoing job placement.
“We have heard for many years the concerns about the future workforce in the sign and graphics industry. As older workers retire, the question of who will replace them is on many leaders’ minds. Sign MFG Day was created to help answer that question. It has grown into a global event – an opportunity for our industry to shine,” said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. “We expect our 2026 event to build on past success and look forward to welcoming a new group of students to learn more and see our industry in action.”
Companies who haven’t planned a 2026 event do not have to wait until next October to participate. Just register through ISA for a toolkit to help make the most of the day.
