Planner Event Is a Success
Dozens of local officials from 20 cities in Washington state participated in Planning for Sign Code Success, a daylong seminar offered by the sign industry to educate planners about on-premise signs and sign codes. The event, which took place in Seattle in conjunction with the Northwest Sign Council trade show, offered area local officials the chance to learn about sign construction and technologies, how to effectively use and properly regulate digital signs, how signs economically impact small businesses and communities, and how to draft legal and enforceable sign codes. Participants were able to earn six credits of professional Certification Maintenance and also walked away with a treasure trove of resources from the industry to help them draft reasonable and beneficial sign codes. NWSC and ISA will continue to work with those who attended Planning for Sign Code Success and with other local officials in the region to represent the sign industry’s concerns.
