OSHA Proposes Additional Paperwork Requirement for Aerial Lift Equipment
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) has proposed to extend approval of the information collection requirement in the Aerial Lifts Standard in Construction (29 CFR 1926.453). This approval would require any employer who modifies an aerial lift for uses other than those provided by the manufacturer to obtain a certificate from the manufacturer verifying that the modification is in conformance with applicable ANSI standards and also stating that the equipment is as safe as it was prior to the modification. This paperwork requirement is pursuant to implementing existing requirements in 29 CFR 1926.453 (a) (2) of the Aerial Lifts Standard.
OSHA is soliciting comments on this proposal and you may submit your comments in the Federal Register here. The deadline for submissions is December 30, 2013.
