New Guideline Proposals for Historic Signs in Major Southwest City
Sweeping changes to guidelines for signage in Historic Districts or on Landmark buildings was a hot topic at a hearing by the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission on July 1, 2014. ISA’s James Carpentier along with Bill Stupansky, President of the Colorado Sign Association, testified in opposition to a number of sections with the proposed Guidelines.
The issues with the proposed Guidelines expressed by James and Bill at the hearing included: content regulation, lack of specific standards, portions of the Guidelines that are not reasonable and an administrative process that is timely and onerous. The Commission plans on some additional detailed discussion on the proposed Chapter 6 Guidelines for Signs, on July 15.
Background information on the process and a copy of the proposed guidelines is available at this link. For more information, please contact James Carpentier.
