My Kind of Town
ISA’s Kenny Peskin testified in favor of a proposed amendment to Chicago’s sign regulations at a Jan. 26 city Zoning Committee hearing. Unlike an earlier proposal that could apply to all on-premises electronic signs, the revised amendment would require neighbor notification for electronic upgrades only for a smaller number of on-premises signs that already are subject to the notification requirements because of their size or height. Joined by Chicagoland sign company representatives, Peskin also noted that on-premises contractors previously have not been subject to enforcement of other notification regulations, despite the existence of these earlier rules in the Chicago codes. At the Jan. 26 hearing, the Zoning Committee passed the ordinance, which should appear on the agenda of the full council in upcoming months.
