ISA Reaches Out to State Officials
ISA is participating in the 15th annual National Alliance of Highway Beautification Agencies (NAHBA) conference in Spokane, Wash. in order to help state Department of Transportation (DOT) officials better understand the role that on-premise signs have along our nation’s highways.
NAHBA consists of government officials and other stakeholders whose focus includes outdoor advertising regulation at the state level. ISA joined representatives from more than 50 State DOT and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) officials, along with some consultants and other industry representatives at the conference.
While there, ISA staff was able to talk with state government officials about the many differences between on and off-premise digital signs, traffic safety concerns, the most recent court decisions impacting sign codes and permitting, and other regulatory issues. ISA will continue to work with state DOT officials on these issues and to find areas of common ground, so that communities and the sign industry will benefit.
