ISA Partners With Regional American Planning Association to Educate Planners and Code Officials
Thirty-five (35) Missouri and Kansas planners attended a Planning for Sign Code Success seminar on May 17 in Mission, Kan. co-presented by the Kansas City Metropolitan Section of the American Planning Association (APA), International Sign Association (ISA), the Tri-State Sign Association (TSSA) and the Signage Foundation Inc. Planners and code officials learned about sign construction technologies, controls of EMCs, legal issues in sign regulation, the economic impact of signs and the process in developing sign codes. Speakers included Ron Sellers (Luminous Neon, Hutchinson, Kan.), Terra Fisher (@Daktronics, Danville, Ill.), David Spatholt (University of Cincinnati DAAP), and ISA’s Kenny Peskin (@signcodeguy).
In 2013, ISA, its Affiliated Associations and the Signage Foundation Inc. plan to educate hundreds of planners on the value of on-premises signs. Later this year, ISA and its Affiliated Associations plan on unveiling new online educational resources geared to planners, as well as presenting additional planner education seminars in Alabama, California, Illinois, North Carolina and Texas. For more information, please contact ISA’s Kenneth Peskin or the Tri-State Sign Association’s Gene Russell.
