ISA , OSHA and Crane Safety

On Tuesday, April 2, ISA participated in an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) stakeholder meeting to represent the sign industry on the crane operator certification requirements in the Cranes and Derricks in Construction standard, which will become fully effective in November 2014. The meeting focused on the effectiveness of crane operator certification to ensure that crane operators can safely operate equipment, and the level of competence and safe operation that certification ensures. More than fifty other trade groups and representatives participated in the meeting. ISA has been helping train sign companies become certified across the country before the deadline, and is scheduled to provide more training later this month. If you have more questions about how OSHA’s crane safety requirements will affect your sign company, contact David Hickey.
