ISA in National Newspaper
When The Washington Post ran a recent story on how Fairfax County’s restrictive and legally dubious sign code was adversely impacting the ability of a local church to communicate, ISA President & CEO Lori Anderson offered the sign industry’s perspective on the unfortunate situation.
Ms. Anderson submitted a hard-hitting response to the Post article, which ran in the newspaper on September 3. In her letter, she noted that these kinds of restrictive and possibly illegal sign codes unfortunately happen all the time all over the country, and that local officials need to allow small businesses and churches to reasonably use their signs in order to effectively communicate with their fellow citizens.
The Washington Post has a circulation of over 500,000 and is read by many more online all over the world. Ms. Anderson’s response will hopefully help raise awareness about unreasonable and unconstitutional sign codes. ISA will continue to look for ways via traditional and new media to get our pro-signage message heard. For more information, please contact David Hickey.
