Gilbert, Ariz., Is Open for Business
On Oct. 6, the Town of Gilbert, Ariz., approved positive changes to its sign code. ISA’s James Carpentier participated in the Sign Interest Group, which reviewed the existing sign code and formulated recommended changes. The Sign Interest Group included Arizona Sign Association members, the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce and community leaders. The revised sign code includes the following changes: an increase in height of ground signs from 8 feet to 12 feet, an increase in the maximum sign area for ground signs from 32 square feet to 60 square feet, an increase in the maximum area allowed for electronic message displays from 50% to 100%, and an eight-second change rate for electronic message displays by right.
