Better Sign Projects Start with Better Decisions

A successful sign project depends on more than good design or skilled fabrication. It requires dozens of decisions across sales, project management, production, and installation. When those teams understand how their work connects, they communicate more clearly, identify problems sooner, and deliver better results.

That kind of perspective often takes months to develop in the shop. ISA BuildU, presented by Yorston & Associates, helps sign and graphics professionals gain it in one day.

This hands-on, expert-led workshop takes participants through the entire sign-building process, from concept and material selection to fabrication, installation, and project management. Classroom sessions provide essential knowledge, while interactive build stations show how products, materials, and processes come together in practice.

The combination creates an experience with immediate value, a point echoed in attendee feedback.

“I don’t think I’ve experienced a more impactful event than [BuildU],” said one participant at the inaugural workshop. “You truly come away with something meaningful.”

BuildU is designed for fabricators, project managers, owners, designers, and sales professionals who want to better understand the full sign-production process. Participants learn to ask better questions, spot potential issues before they cause delays, and prevent costly mistakes and rework.

That broader perspective was central to the event’s creation.

“We created BuildU to give sign professionals something that is difficult to get anywhere else: a practical view of the entire sign-building process,” said Brad Turpin, Jr., Associate Director for Content and Training at ISA. “When people understand how each decision affects the next stage of a project, they can prevent problems, communicate more effectively across the office, shop, and field and deliver stronger results for their customers.”

BuildU comes to Cincinnati’s iconic American Sign Museum on October 6, where participants will be surrounded by nearly 100 years of sign history, artistry, and craftsmanship. It is a fitting setting to level up your sign-making skills, build valuable industry connections, and gain practical knowledge you can apply immediately.

Registration is now open for BuildU Cincinnati, with early-bird pricing in effect through September 5.
