ISA is working to help communities in the Washington, D.C., area develop reasonable and beneficial sign codes. In Arlington County, Virginia, ISA staff participated in a sign code workshop on Tuesday to gather community input on reworking the current sign ordinance. In Washington, D.C., ISA has been invited to join a citizens working group on urban design. Over the next month, this group will examine the city’s design principles that promote active pedestrian streets and promote high-quality design. And Wednesday in Frederick, Md., the Frederick County Planning Commission hosted a public hearing on seven zoning text amendments, including new regulations on electronic signs. ISA testified in favor of the proposed regulations, which will establish automatic brightness controls and 10-second hold times for all new EMCs.
