An Answer to Worker Shortages
Finding the next generation of workers is a challenge for many companies in the sign and visual communication industry. But some companies have learned one of the best ways to engage future workers is to participate in Sign Manufacturing Day.
Held the first Friday in October, Sign Manufacturing Day participants open up facilities to high school and college students. Last year, more than 1,000 students were able to explore the diverse range of career possibilities in the industry.
This year, more than 22 companies already have signed on to host students at multiple locations around the world. Participants in 2014 found that students and teachers were engaged, excited and many asked about jobs, internships and job-shadowing possibilities.
It’s not too late to join in Sign Manufacturing Day 2015, held October 2. ISA, working alongside the National Association of Manufacturers, has compiled resources to help guide participants in finding students and in planning the day’s events.
