Engineering Principles For Sign Design

Gain valuable insight into what it takes to ensure the safety, durability and longevity of properly engineered structures.  This session covers (a) code and load requirements including engineering considerations; (b) structure, materials and failure mechanisms including identifying various types of structural materials and the differences, types of failure and other structural concerns; and (c) soils and footings specifically soil bearing capacity; spread footings and use of rebar; caisson footings; frost heave and base plates and anchors.

How To Interpret Codes That Influence Sign Design & Installation

This course will provide information on the most recent American with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, as documented in the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design (SAD). It also provides an overview of the impacts on signage of the NFPA Life Safety Manual and lastly an introduction to the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) and how Signage can contribute to these objectives.
