Ken Soday, president and CEO of Stellar Signs & Designs in Winter Park, Fla., was recognized as this year’s ISA Sign Code Champion, presented during ISA International Sign Expo 2018, the sign, graphics and visual communications industry’s leading tradeshow.
ISA’s Sign Code Champion is awarded to a sign industry professional who goes “above and beyond” in successfully advocating for improved sign regulations.
Soday has long dedicated his time and energy to assisting his peers and government officials with sign code issues. Recently, his work at the regional level—on behalf of the Southern States Sign Association (SSSA)—led to positive outcomes on licensing issues in South Carolina and Georgia. He also works regularly with local officials in Florida, helping them understand how reasonable sign codes help businesses and improve communities. He has served on SSSA’s legislative committee for a number of years and worked alongside ISA to bring educational events to planners.
“Ken has been a valuable resource for ISA and sign, graphics and visual communications companies throughout the Southeast,” said David Hickey, vice president of advocacy for the International Sign Association. “He understands that if we are able to work collaboratively and credibly with local communities, then we have a much better chance of improving restrictive sign codes, so that everyone benefits.”
Randy Hanson with Hanson Signs and Jude Cook with Cook & Company Signmakers received honorable mentions.
The presentation was made during ISA International Sign Expo, which continues through March 24 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
