IGCC Pushes Back on Sign Industry

IGCC Pushes Back on Sign Industry

ISA and the United States Sign Council (USSC) recently collaborated in Dallas with several industry allies to testify at the International Code Council hearings on a new model green building code that is in its second round of revisions. The Code Committee disapproved the sign industry’s proposals to change the rules governing illumination of exterior signage and the use of neon and cold cathode lamps. As currently written, the new International Green Construction Code  would establish shutoff requirements for signs at close of business and would greatly restrict the use of most types of lamps that contain mercury. ISA and USSC will continue to draft amended language for the final hearings in November. For more information, please contact Sapna Budev at [email protected]
