Western City Approves Favorable Sign Code
On Tuesday, new sign code amendments were approved and the local Planning Commission’s recommendation to exclude reasonable EMC language were overturned by the Colorado Springs City Council. ISA’s James Carpentier testified in support of the new EMC regulations, along with members of the Colorado Sign Association and several sign users. The new EMC provisions allow for a 10-second change rate, an allowable square footage of 50% for the digital part of ground signs, and illumination levels at night of up to .3 foot-candles (or 500 NITS).
