Sign Industry Makes Its Voice Heard on Capitol Hill
ISA and sign companies from all sectors of the sign industry participated in the National Association of Manufacturers’ 2013 NAM Manufacturing Summit on June 19-20. These five member companies, representing suppliers, distributors and national and custom sign companies met with nearly two dozen congressional offices and educated policymakers on how tax reform, energy policy and other manufacturing issues affect the sign industry specifically. The sign companies also expressed their concern to members of Congress and their staff about “Dark Skies” and complying with Obamacare. The sign industry contingent also joined hundreds of other manufacturers at the event to hear Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH), House Energy & Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and House Ways and Means Committee member John Larson (D-CT) talk about their outlook for the critical policy issues affecting the manufacturing sector of our economy. This was a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness of the sign industry on Capitol Hill, and to educate policymakers about the issues that affect sign companies and sign users every day. For more information about the sign industry’s participation in NAM’s Manufacturing Summit, please contact David Hickey at ISA.
ISA will also partner with NAM to host Manufacturing Day on October 4, 2013. ISA’s goal in participating in this event is to educate a potential workforce about the sign industry while showcasing the value of careers in manufacturing. Sign companies interested in hosting high school, vocational school and community college students can contact ISA’s Alison Kent to learn more.
