Sign Companies Fight Regulatory Issues
Regulatory and code issues at the local, state and federal levels can certainly impact a sign company’s bottom line. ISA Sign Expo is April 23-26 in Orlando, Fla.
Former OSHA Administrator Ed Foulke will share information on how to pass an OSHA inspection and avoid penalties, which often run into the tens of thousands of dollars. Foulke also will share insight into what the enforcement-driven OSHA looks for when inspecting sign companies.
Kenny Peskin, ISA Manager of State and Local Government Affairs, will be educating sign companies on how to win variances and get customers the signs they deserve. He also will share case studies that have successfully argued for a variances.
David Hickey, ISA Vice President of Government Relations, along with Roger Brown of Daktronics, will teach sign companies the winning arguments to overcome restrictions on illuminated signs.
Planner Wendy Moeller will introduce a new manual that shows how to properly and effectively use and regulate temporary signs. James Carpentier, ISA Manager of State and Local Government Affairs, moderates a panel discussion that looks at how communities develop sign codes. Panelists include Dawn Jourdan, a land use attorney, city planner and academic, along with officials from Florida cities Orlando, Kissimmee and Clearwater.
