Sign Code Education Impacts the Rocky Mountain State
Designed to educate local sign code officials about the importance of signs to businesses and communities, a joint ISA/Colorado Sign Association (CSA)/Signage Foundation Inc. (SFI) Planning for Sign Code Success event taught participants about sign construction technologies, how to effectively treat EMCs, legal issues in sign regulation, the economic impact of signs, and the process in developing sign codes. Fifty planners from twenty-nine jurisdictions in Colorado participated in the event that was also sponsored by the Colorado chapter of the American Planning Association.
ISA, its Affiliated Associations and the Signage Foundation Inc. are dedicated to educating planners on the value of on-premises signs, with the goal of helping them create reasonable and beneficial sign codes across the country. In 2013, nearly 170 planners and other local sign code officials from over 100 cities and towns in 8 states have been educated at these Planning for Sign Code Success events, resulting in many sign codes being improved across the country.
