Planners Key Component to Sign Code Success
Encourage the development of reasonable sign codes by educating the planning community on the value of signs and how they should be treated. That’s exactly what ISA’s Planning for Sign Code Success program does with hundreds of planners each year. So far in 2013, ISA and its affiliates, along with the Signage Foundation Inc., have educated over 150 planners and other local sign code officials at 5 events, with attendees representing nearly 120 communities from 7 states. During these programs, sign industry professionals, planners and academics present various seminars at which participants can earn continuing education credits while learning about effective sign code development. After these events, ISA staff can follow-up with attendees and help them draft sign codes that benefit businesses, communities and the sign industry.
