On May 2 Mesa’s Sign Code Advisory Committee (SCAC) Concluded a Series of 8 Meetings

The purpose of the SCAC meetings has been to facilitate public input from community stakeholders and provide direction to the Zoning Administrator in the drafting of an updated sign code. These meetings were attended by ISA’s James Carpentier (@james.carpentier) along with members of the Arizona Sign Association, Small Business Alliance, Arizona Food Marketing Alliance, and local businesses. During these SCAC meetings recommendations were provided to the City in regards to: downtown regulations, Freeway Landmark Sign Guidelines, wall sign requirements, temporary signage, electronic message center regulations, design standards, comprehensive sign plans, ground signs, formed based sign regulations, and non-conforming signs. The Zoning Administrator will take into account the SCAC input and draft a new sign code by September 2013. The revised code will be reviewed by the SCAC in September 2013, prior to going to:  the Planning and Zoning Board, Design Review Board, Historic Commission, and the City Council for hearings and adoption in early 2014. For more information, please contact James Carpentier.
