Nashville, Tenn., Proposes New Downtown Sign Regulations
On Sept. 26, the city of Nashville, Tenn., held an informational meeting regarding proposed sign regulations for downtown. The meeting was attended by several representatives of the downtown business community, the Mid South Sign Association and ISA’s James Carpentier. All who spoke at the meeting had concerns about the draft downtown sign regulations. The proposed code includes size reductions in allowable wall signs from 15% of wall area to 0.75 to 1.5 square foot per linear foot of building, and from 8 feet in height and 48 square feet to 5 feet in height and 32 square feet for ground signs. Nashville planners are reviewing stakeholder input and revising the downtown sign regulations. The revised code will be posted soon at this link.
