Meeting Amends New Sign Code for County before Final Vote
The fifth and last in a series of meetings to discuss major revisions to county sign code was held with end users, county officials and representatives of the sign and visual communications industry.
The code is being revised to address numerous administrative issues and streamline processes, provide predictability, ensure content neutrality, foster economic development and preserve aesthetics for Kitsap County, Wash. The goal is to have a code adopted by the County that is easy to administer by the County and easy to understand by the applicants.
The existing code is very difficult to interpret making it almost impossible for sign companies to determine what is allowed under the existing code. The proposed code would allow EMCs and have standards that allow for additional height and area for ground signs and additional area for wall signs.
ISA continues its work with organizations like the Northwest Sign Council, attend local meetings and provided key insight into drafting sign code that would benefit communities and businesses alike. The draft sign code will be presented to community advisory groups, Chambers of Commerce and other organizations in the coming months. The draft document can be found here.
