Looming Skilled Labor Shortage Affects Sign Industry
“There is a tsunami coming, if it isn’t already here,” said ISA Director of Education, Matt Rumbaugh, discussing the looming skilled trade labor shortage with sign shop owners. Researchers estimate that over half of trade workers are over 50 years of age and that for every four of these employees that exit the workforce, one person replaces them. Facts like these underscore the need for quality training in the sign industry as there are few vocational programs or schools that teach sign work.
ISA’s education program, including the new ISA Sign Academy Online, is an affordable, accessible option for sign companies to train workers for careers in the sign industry. For more information on education in the sign industry, visit ISA Sign Academy Online or contact Matt Rumbaugh.
