Kitsap CO Commissioner’s Hold Public Hearings

Kitsap CO Commissioner’s Hold Public Hearings

The County Planning Commission held two public hearings this month to obtain input on the proposed sign ordinance revisions. On June 3, International Sign Association’s (ISA) James Carpentier testified at the hearing, along with Randy Hanson of Hanson Signs Inc., a member of the NWSC. Mr. Carpentier testified in support of the proposed code with the exception to allow pole signs at 15 feet in height by right. These hearings were preceded by a series of meetings by the Sign Code Work Team to discuss and make recommendations for major revisions to the Kitsap County signs code.

The County also held meetings to present the draft Sign Code to the community advisory groups, Chambers of Commerce, and other organizations. The code is being revised to address numerous administrative issues and streamline the process, provide predictability, ensure content neutrality, foster economic development, and preserve Kitsap County aesthetics.
