ISA Educates Indiana Planners
ISA and the Midwest Sign Association hosted a daylong Planning for Sign Code Success seminar on July 26 in Carmel, Ind. Planners and code officials from more than 25 Indiana municipalities learned about sign construction technologies, the site development process, controls of EMCs, legal issues in sign regulation, the economic impact of signs, and the process in developing sign codes. Speakers included Tim McCord (@DaNiteSign; Columbus, Ohio), Charley Schalliol (Site Enhancement Services; South Bend, Ind.), John Kunze (@WatchfireSigns; Danville, Ill.), John Yarger (North American Signs; South Bend, Ind.), David Spatholt (University of Cincinnati DAAP), and ISA’s Kenny Peskin (@signcodeguy).
In 2012, ISA, its regional associations, and the Signage Foundation Inc. have educated more than 100 planners on the value of on-premises signs. Moving forward in 2012, ISA and its regional associations plan on presenting additional planner education seminars in San Antonio (August 3) and Garden Grove, Calif. (September 14).
