Heard on the Hill: Policymakers Informed About Sign Industry
A lawmaker’s understanding of the sign industry is vital to the cultivation and evolution of our businesses. That’s why ISA’s Vice President of Government Affairs David Hickey recently participated in a policy roundtable session with Dr. James Stock, White House Council of Economic Advisors member and former Chair of the Harvard Economics Department. Dr. Stock elaborated on the state of the U.S. economy, and listened to input from different manufacturing sectors, including the sign industry, on what Washington, D.C. can do to help promote economic growth and vitality.
ISA is able to meet with high-ranking officials on Capitol Hill through membership in like-minded manufacturing coalitions and organizations. Recent meetings that Hickey took part in to educate federal officials about the sign industry include Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and former Gov. Mike Rounds (SD-R). These meetings with national politicians provide a valuable forum to inform policymakers on the size and impact of the sign industry, and to promote the kind of regulatory reform and tax policies that will benefit sign companies.
