Digital Printing Continues to Grow in Wide Format Print Market
Digital printing offers small sign shops a more efficient way of handling inventory, according to a new report based on survey findings conducted by InfoTrends. The two-part report was produced by the International Sign Association and sponsored by 3M.
“ISA Wide Format Print & Media Mix Survey: Part One,” was released and will soon be followed by Part Two. The research is designed to capture the current state of the wide format print market. Some highlights from Part One:
- Small shops make up approximately 70 percent of the establishments within signage and graphics producers. This places a large emphasis on the importance of efficiency and cash flow management.
- 21 percent of sign shops don’t own any wide format printers, outsourcing all of their work in this area.
- Digital printing now is about 60 percent of the wide format printing market and will grow in the coming two years. Banners, signs and decals are the products most frequently output on digital wide format printers.
The report also explores which applications are growing and which are declining. It includes characteristics that shops use to select wide format print media.
The full two-part report is available free to ISA members. Non-members may purchase Part One for $24.95. To access or purchase the survey, click here.
