City Seeks Sign Industry Input on Codes Changes

Last week, city officials sought input from sign industry leaders including members of the Nevada Sign Association and ISA’s Manager State & Local Government Affairs, James Carpentier. ISA has been actively involved in sign code updates for more than a year.

Issues raised by James and other sign industry leaders included allowing additional percentages for EMCs that are located in the Tourist Commercial District; simplifying a portion of the code focused on the vision triangle, and not requiring an engineer’s stamp on plans for that portion of the code; removing a 200-foot radius for the location of EMC signs and ensuring that existing EMCs can upgrade to current technology.

On April 3, 2014 the City officials also met with the business community to discuss the proposed changes to the code. If most of the stakeholders and the city are in agreement with the proposed changes, the proposed draft will go the City Council for a workshop in early May, Planning Commission on May 15, 2014, and the Council for hearings in June. For more information, please contact James Carpentier.
