Congressman Rep. Canseco Tours Southwest Signs Manufacturing Facility

Alexandria, VA – May 31, 2012

Texas Congressman Francisco Canseco (TX-23) visited the Southwest Signs facility in San Antonio  on Friday, May 25th, where he witnessed first-hand how signs are made and the key role they play in helping promote America’s small businesses.  The event was coordinated by the International Sign Association, the on-premise sign industry’s leading trade association.

Congressman Canseco’s background as a real estate developer, especially in retail, provided him with a good background for understanding and appreciating the importance of signs, but he learned even more about sign construction and how companies like Southwest Signs contribute to the economic vitality of his district and the region as a result of his tour of the business.

“I am honored to represent this fine manufacturing facility and the hardworking employees of Southwest Signs as they continue to make the visual communications that help local retailers and national businesses advertise and identify themselves,” said Congressman Canseco. “It was a great opportunity to see these talented and hardworking employees in action, and to listen to their concerns for their business, the economy and our country.”

Congressman Canseco spoke with many of the Southwest Signs employees assembled about efforts in Congress to help grow the economy and create jobs, how to reduce our country’s $16 trillion debt, and how excessive government regulations impact the ability of sign companies to reach their full potential.

As a family-owned business going back three generations, Southwest Signs is a true American success story.  Founded in 1946 and starting out of the back of a Plymouth station wagon, the national sign company now has more than 100 employees and operates in an office and manufacturing facility of 100,000 square feet. Southwest Signs is committed to keeping up with the latest trends in manufacturing, information technology, and communications.
