Town Proposes to Ease Sign Regulations

On Wednesday, the Town of Gilbert, Ariz., Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on proposed changes to its sign code. ISA’s James Carpentier recently participated in the Sign Interest Group that reviewed the existing sign code and formulated recommended changes. The Sign Interest Group also includes members of the Arizona Sign Association and the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce as well as other community leaders. The proposed revisions include an increase in height of ground signs from 8 feet to 12 feet, an increase in the maximum sign area for ground signs from 32 square feet to 60 square feet, an increase in the maximum area allowed for electronic message displays from 50% to 75%, and an eight-second change rate for electronic message centers by right.
